What causes gynecomastia
Gynecomastia develops when the balance between male and female hormones changes. It is common during puberty and later in life, and can be associated with weight gain, certain medications, anabolic steroids or, rarely, other medical conditions. A medical evaluation comes before surgery, especially when the enlargement appeared recently or on one side only.

- Diffuse fatty fullness
Glandular and fatty gynecomastia
In glandular gynecomastia, a firm disc of breast gland lies beneath the nipple. In fatty (pseudo-) gynecomastia, the fullness is mainly fat. Most men have a combination of both, and the treatment is planned accordingly.

How it is treated
Fat is removed by liposuction through small openings, and the firm gland is excised through a short incision at the lower edge of the areola. In marked cases with loose skin, excess skin may also need to be removed. The aim is a flat, natural male chest contour.

Recovery
Gynecomastia surgery usually takes one to two hours and is a day-case procedure. A compression vest is worn for four to six weeks. Most men return to desk work within a few days and to sport after about a month.

Frequently asked questions
How much does gynecomastia surgery cost in Turkey?
The cost depends on whether liposuction alone or gland excision and skin removal are needed. A personal quote follows the review of your chest photographs.
When can I go back to the gym after gynecomastia surgery?
Light cardio is usually possible after 2 weeks, and chest and upper-body training after about 4–6 weeks.
Will gynecomastia come back after surgery?
Once the gland has been removed, recurrence is uncommon. Significant weight gain, steroid use or certain medications can cause new enlargement.
Are the scars visible?
The incisions are small and placed at the border of the areola and in natural creases, where they usually become discreet.
Is surgery suitable for teenagers?
Pubertal gynecomastia often resolves on its own, so surgery is usually considered only if it persists after puberty.
